Concept

Nurtured by abundant nature and deep faith,
this land, rich in tradition and culture,
still breathes with the faith and wisdom of our ancestors even today.

Amidst a world where everything is changing at a dizzying pace,
this place, where the spirit of history remains vividly alive,
is a place where you can encounter the wisdom and prayers of our forebears.

We believe this will surely offer new insights to those of us living in the modern age,
and provide an opportunity to connect with a rich sensibility.

We at SUI and SUI hope that through your stay in Gujo Hachiman,
you will experience the charm of traditional culture and the region as a form of “play,”
and that our inn will serve as a bridge connecting these traditions to the future.

Passing on a Special Place for Healing to the Next Generation

For a long time, I have held a special place in my heart for the town of Gujo Hachiman.
The sound of water echoes constantly, and the corners of the town still breathe with the spirit of life as it was lived long ago. Drawn to its natural charm, I would visit whenever I could find the time.

Looking back, there was a time when I was feeling down. I would sit on a bench along the Yoshida River, simply gazing at the flow of the water and letting my thoughts wander. I remember how, strangely enough, my mind would calm down, and I could quietly look forward again. The wish that someone else might experience that same sense of healing—that desire became the foundation for creating this inn.

I want to carefully preserve the culture and way of life passed down through the ages and pass them on to the future.
We hope this inn will be a place where we can introduce the true charm of Gujo to our guests in a way that is both enjoyable and meaningful.
We would be delighted if, through such “experiences,” guests could connect with the best of traditional Japanese culture.
We hope this inn will serve as a gateway to discovering the charm of Gujo and a place that gently accompanies our guests on their journey.

The path I set out on, supported by the bonds of fate

It all began with a connection I made during my student days; guided by the bonds between people,
I came to work at this inn in Gujo Hachiman.
I hope that the time spent here will become a memorable part of someone’s journey—
it is with this hope in mind that I dedicate myself to this place every day.

Gujo Hachiman is a place where you can feel the warmth of nature and its people, and where tradition is very much alive.
As I’ve lived here, this town itself has become a cherished part of my life.
Every time I encounter the culture, history, and charm rooted in this land,
my desire to protect and pass on this place grows stronger.

With deep gratitude for the countless encounters I’ve had through water and greenery,
I hope to enrich the journeys of everyone who visits this inn,
and to give back, in my own small way, to the town and people of Gujo Hachiman.
We welcome you with all our hearts.

ProfileYoshihiro Yamamoto | Owner, StabiRides Bicycles, Minami-cho, Gujo City
I first became interested in mountain biking (MTB) at age 15. After my parents bought me my first MTB and I took it on my first trip to Gujo, I became completely hooked on the fun of it. I’m a true cycling enthusiast whose outdoor career—including my time as a professional racer—has been almost entirely dedicated to sports cycling.
Every day, I brainstorm ideas so that people can fully enjoy, learn about, and experience Gujo’s diverse and rich nature and the depth of its mountain-based livelihoods through cycling.
